The first site is opening in Cardiff

A popular US burger chain has revealed plans to open 100 sites across the UK in the next four years with the first opening this week.

Californian fast food outlet Carl’s Jr is opening its first restaurant in Cardiff, Wales this week with a second location in southern England due to open before the summer.

The first 100 customers through the doors of its St David’s Shopping Centre location will be given a free burger.

David Moffat, country manager for Carl’s Jr. UK, told the publication: “We are thrilled to bring Carl’s Jr. to Cardiff, marking our first location in the UK.

“The team at BRG has been working hard to bring the Carl’s Jr experience to the UK, and we can’t wait to welcome our first guests soon.

“We’ve seen incredible excitement from fans eager to try our food, and we’re confident our range of juicy 100 per cent Angus Beef Burgers, Hand-Breaded Chicken Burgers and Tenders, as well as irresistible Ice-Cream Shakes will quickly become customer favourites.”

There have been no further details released as to where the other 98 sites will be and no guarantees they will come to fruition.

Carl’s Jr. was first founded in 1941 and operates more than 1,000 locations across the US and in 28 other countries.

The chain is known for selling meat and veg-packaged burgers along with breakfast burritos and sandwiches.

Some people have gone as far as saying that the chain is better than the fast food giant that is McDonalds.

One person on X said: “Kinda feel like Carl’s Jr. is better than McDonald’s. Can I get an amen?”

A second echoed the sentiment, saying: “Man listen…Carl’s Jr. better than McDonalds…”

Satnam Leihal, chief executive officer for the group, said: “Carl’s Jr.’s international success is a testament to its fantastic food quality and innovative approach.

“We are excited to bring the ‘Eat Like You Mean It’ experience, born in California, to the UK.

“This partnership aligns perfectly with our commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences.”
